This book by Roel Snieder and Ken Larner is a guide for students and early career researchers looking to successfully launch a science career.
The Professor Is In: The Essential Guide To Turning Your Ph.D. Into a Job
This book is written by a former tenured Anthropology professor who now works as a consultant helping PhD students and graduates prepare themselves and their academic and professional records for applying for jobs. Not all of this book is may be specifically relevant to STEM students (some of it is definitely more social-science focused), but you may find the chapters about “losing the grad student mentality and acting like a professional” to be particularly useful.
Getting What You Came For: The Smart Student’s Guide to Earning a Master’s or Ph.D.
This book by Robert L. Peters helps students get the most out of their grad school experience.
